FROM VIRAL TO CUSTODY | TAGUIG POLICE STRIKE FAST

TAGUIG CITY — The Taguig City Police Station has confirmed the arrest of two suspects linked to the viral pickpocketing incident at Bonifacio Global City (BGC), following what authorities described as fast and decisive police action.

Police identified the suspects as JTS and JMMV, who were apprehended on January 7, 2026, in Barangay Fort Bonifacio during a routine foot patrol conducted by personnel from Sub-Station 1 of the TCPS—just one day after the pickpocketing video circulated widely on social media.

During the arrest, the suspects were caught engaging in illegal gambling (cara y cruz). A subsequent lawful body search led to the recovery of two sachets of suspected shabu with a combined weight of approximately 3.21 grams, along with other pieces of evidence.

As a result, authorities immediately filed cases for Violation of PD 1602 (Illegal Gambling) and Section 11, Article II of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act) against the suspects.

Meanwhile, in connection with the viral BGC pickpocketing incident, the victim has already coordinated with Taguig Police and is being assisted by investigators in the formal filing of an additional theft charge against the same individuals.

The TCPS emphasized that the swift arrest underscores the police force’s zero-tolerance stance on criminal activity in the city. Officials also assured the public of heightened patrols, strict law enforcement, and the use of digital and CCTV evidence to quickly address crimes that threaten public safety.

Police further urged residents and visitors to immediately report suspicious activities, stressing that timely information from the public plays a crucial role in enabling rapid police response and maintaining peace and order in Taguig City. For Video: https://www.facebook.com/share/v/1DnKDHDEeo/
