Transmission services normalized nationwide as crews work round-the-clock to fast-track repairs in storm-hit areas.
Power transmission across storm-hit areas is back to full strength after the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) moved fast to restore transmission lines damaged by Tropical Storm Basyang, preventing prolonged outages and stabilizing the grid in record time.
Despite heavy rains and strong winds brought by the storm, NGCP crews were immediately deployed on the ground, working around the clock to inspect, repair, and energize affected facilities. The result: transmission services in all impacted areas have now returned to normal operations.
The company said restoration efforts were carried out with urgency to minimize disruptions to power generation and distribution companies, as well as to millions of consumers relying on stable electricity.
NGCP stressed that it remains on high alert as weather disturbances continue to threaten critical infrastructure. The grid operator is closely monitoring storm developments nationwide and stands ready to activate its Overall Command Center (OCmC) at a moment’s notice to coordinate rapid response operations.
“Preparedness and speed are critical,” the company emphasized, underscoring its commitment to immediate action whenever transmission facilities are put at risk.
With the grid fully stabilized, NGCP assured the public that contingency measures are already in place to keep power transmission resilient against future storms, ensuring reliable electricity even under extreme weather conditions.
