Labor group presses President to enforce Supreme Court ruling; May 1 protest set at Malacañang
The Mangagawa sa Komunikasyon ng Pilipinas (MKP) on Tuesday issued a direct challenge to Ferdinand Marcos Jr., urging him to fulfill his duty as chief executive by enforcing a Supreme Court decision related to the regularization of contractual workers at PLDT.
“Mr. President, we are not asking for favors. Simply do your duty—enforce the law. The Supreme Court has already spoken; it is time for it to be implemented,” the group said.
The MKP stressed that while they have already brought their appeal to Malacañang, they have yet to receive any formal response from the administration.
In light of this, the group announced plans to stage a protest on May 1, Labor Day, in front of Malacañang Palace, where they hope the President will personally hear their grievances.
“We will wait for you at the gates of Malacañang. We hope you will give due importance to the lives and rights of Filipino workers,” the group said in closing.
