Council calls on Filipinos and government officials to reject partisan conflict and work together for justice, peace, and national unity.
The Mindanao Evangelical Leaders Council (MELC) issues this statement to affirm our steadfast commitment to righteous governance, transparency, accountability, and principled leadership amid the continuing political and leadership challenges confronting our nation today.
As spiritual leaders and responsible citizens, we believe that public office is a sacred trust that must always be exercised with integrity, humility, justice, and unwavering fidelity to the Constitution and the rule of law. In these uncertain and divisive times, we call upon all leaders in government to rise above partisan interests, political rivalries, and personal ambitions, and instead prioritize the welfare of the Filipino people and the unity of our nation.
We recognize the importance of strong democratic institutions and constitutional processes in preserving national stability, public trust, and social order. We therefore urge all public officials, regardless of political affiliation, to uphold truth, accountability, and ethical governance, while respecting the independence and integrity of lawful institutions.
At the same time, we strongly condemn acts that promote division, hostility, corruption, abuse of authority, misinformation, and betrayal of public trust. Such actions weaken our democratic foundations, undermine national progress, and deepen the suffering of ordinary Filipinos already burdened by economic hardship and social uncertainty.
We likewise reject blind loyalty to personalities and political camps when such allegiance compromises moral responsibility, constitutional order, and the common good. Our loyalty as a people must remain anchored on truth, justice, peace, and the enduring principles that strengthen our democracy and national identity.
In this critical period of our nation’s history, we call on all Filipinos to remain vigilant, prayerful, discerning, and united. Let us choose peace over hatred, dialogue over conflict, and righteousness over political convenience. We encourage our fellow citizens to actively participate in nation-building through responsible citizenship, respect for democratic processes, and sincere concern for the welfare of future generations.
Above all, we continue to lift our nation and its leaders in prayer, asking Almighty God to grant wisdom, courage, compassion, humility, and genuine servant leadership to those entrusted with public office. May God guide the Philippines toward healing, unity, justice, and lasting peace.
