Wreath-Laying Ceremony Opens Kiwanis Week 2026, Marks 111th Founding Anniversary

Weeklong celebration highlights global commitment to children under the theme “Together We Serve, Together We Shine”

MANILA — A wreath-laying ceremony formally signaled the start of Kiwanis Week 2026, marking the 111th Founding Anniversary of Kiwanis International, a global humanitarian organization dedicated to serving the needs of children and communities worldwide.

The ceremony served as the opening activity of the weeklong celebration from January 18 to 24, setting the tone for a series of service-oriented events and community initiatives anchored on this year’s theme, “Together We Serve, Together We Shine.”

Founded in 1915, Kiwanis International has spent more than a century advancing programs that promote child welfare, education, health, and protection. The 111th anniversary underscores the organization’s enduring mission and its continued relevance in addressing the evolving needs of children and families across the globe.

Throughout Kiwanis Week 2026, members and partner organizations are expected to carry out various humanitarian activities, including feeding programs, health and wellness initiatives, mental health awareness campaigns, and outreach for children with special needs, reflecting Kiwanis’ child-focused advocacy.

Organizers emphasized that the observance is both a tribute to Kiwanis’ legacy of service and a renewed call for unity and collaboration among members and partners, reinforcing the belief that collective action can create lasting impact in communities.

As Kiwanis International enters its 111th year, the organization continues to uphold its commitment to service, guided by the principle that when communities work together, service shines brighter and reaches farther.
