PRICE MONITORING INTENSIFIED | MARIKINA POLICE WARN REPEAT SRP VIOLATORS

MARIKINA CITY — PCol. Jenny Tecson, Chief of Police of Marikina, said local police are actively assisting the Department of Agriculture (DA) in enforcing price monitoring after inspectors found several market stalls selling basic commodities above the Suggested Retail Price (SRP).

Tecson explained that authorities immediately conducted inspections to verify whether prices posted by vendors were aligned with the official DA price list. For first-time violations, vendors are issued verbal warnings, in line with DA guidance.

However, the Marikina police chief stressed that repeat offenders will face stricter action. Authorities will initiate deeper investigations to determine the source of the goods and the reasons behind the excessive pricing.

Tecson emphasized that continuous inspections are crucial to protect consumers, particularly ordinary residents who are most affected by rising prices of essential goods.

She also called on barangay officials to take a more active role in monitoring market prices, noting that local leaders are closer to vendors and play a key role in maintaining order and compliance at the community level.

In closing, Tecson urged the public to maintain discipline and appealed to vendors to sell their products fairly and responsibly, ensuring that essential goods remain accessible to everyone.

The Marikina Police assured the public that regular inspections and close coordination with the DA and the local government will continue to ensure fair pricing and safeguard consumer welfare. For News Video: https://www.facebook.com/share/v/1BgWqWHvX1/
